And here's some more rhetorical extravagance from Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.): "Comcast's acquisition of NBC Universal would have a devastating impact on the already decreasing ability of the American people to receive unfiltered access to news, information, and entertainment programming from a wide array of sources."

Yeah, right. This merger is going to result in "filtered" news and somehow restrict content "from a wide array of sources." Someone will have to explain to me how Comcast will suddently be able to quash all other media and information sources out there -- just by acquiring NBC. Can't wait to hear that theory.

Here's a gem from the Parents Television Council: "Consumers – and especially children and families – will be thrown under the bus if it raises the share price of the combined company’s stock by a penny."

Hmmm.. someone will need to explain to me how fluctuations in the stock price of the newly merger entity will "throw children and families under the bus."

Absurd.
