For example, it&#039;s true that Sun and Microsoft have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the core Java and .NET platforms respectively, but it&#039;s also true that unlike pharmaceuticals, those investments directly build on themselves. It cost those companies comparatively little to develop JavaFX and Silverlight on top of their existing investments.&lt;/p&gt;
