<description>You overestimate how much congress knows about banking, or foreign policy. Come to think of it, you seem to over estimate congress entirely.

<description>By the time Washington understands the Internet, it will be obsolete. I'm not sure that's such a bad thing, come to think of it.

<description>It has always taken a long time for old paradigms to fall away to new science and technologies.

But it's never funny. It boggles my mind how old folks can overlook, underestimate, undervalue, and ignore the internet.

There's no excuse for law-makers to be ignorant of that which they control. The fact that they can get away with it is a sad sign of how ignorant the voting majority is themselves.

<description>I don't think he really was the first blogger at the White House. By &lt;a href="http://www.blogpi.net/who-was-the-first-white-house-blogger" rel="nofollow"&gt;this account&lt;/a&gt;, he was actually the third, but has been calling himself that because, well, because it sounds good.

<description>It goes much deeper than just IT ignorance.

It should be apparent to anyone who is paying attention that much of our current leadership is both highly innumerate and ignorant of much of science, too.

Books such as the "Republican War on Science" just begin to scratch the surface of this problem.

The roots of this were observed by C.P.Snow in his 1959 Rede lecture at Cambridge "The Two Cultures" which was much expanded and improved in the book "The Two Cultures and A Second Look".

However no we have not two, but at least three cultures, and the third (the political class) knows all kinds of stuff about manipulation using mass media to subvert democracy, but has very little knowledge of science, geography, or world cultures, besides America's.

<description>I dunno, Senators may know the difference between Indonesia and Pakistan but it doesn't appear to have done much good for our foreign policy.
