Well, I hate to break it to you, engima_foundry, but that doesn't surprise me in the least. I have no pet moral issues myself except to see justice done and freedom upheld. In fact, generally speaking you will find that I am not at all impassioned by even heinous things like child molestation and genocide because these are what I expect out of the human condition. The human condition has not been a pleasant one, American fantasies that the rest of the world is as safe and protected as middle/upper class America notwithstanding. However, we have thrown off as a society the safeguards against sexual license and then we wonder why it predictably leads to moral depravity. "American exceptionalism" is a farce. We are no better or worse than any who came before us.

I'm not judging anyone, I just find it strangly and morbidly amusing to watch the moral decline of the United States. We have already reached most of the moral lows of the Roman Empire, and not just in terms of sex. Our rule of law is gone, violence is epidemic in many areas and the American family lays mostly in ruins. It's a predictable cycle, but every time things cycle back around we repeat the same mistakes because it's always "a new era."

Not to sound cliche, but what did you expect from the "sexual revolution" and secular moral relativism?

Well, Mike I hate to break it to you, but many of those convicted of child pornography have those fine upstanding people who, in their public lives, oppose the "sexual revolution" and who fought "secular moral relativism." (Although in general their IQ did not permit them to understand either)

Amen to that. This now becomes a good case study to see if our government is really serious about this issue. Will our government do the right thing and put these scumbags behind bars for a long, long time, or will they give them a slap on the wrist and let them walk after just a few years of hard time, meaning they'll be out on the streets and behind keyboards again soon?

Well, first I want to say the crime is heinous, but that does not mean that all accused actually are guilty, so I take exception to the various quotes above that certainly sound like all those accused are automatically guilty

So to the quote of "Let's lock em up and throw away they key" I would say there is a little formality called a trial.

Given the current scandals plaguing the Republicans, this sounds a little like a diversion, or perhaps worse. I certainly would n't put it past the current administration to falsely accuse, or to doctor up some fake evidence against their opponents.

Mike, you have a peculiar understanding of human psychology. Are your moral/religious beliefs the only barrier between you and child rape?

Not to sound cliche, but what did you expect from the "sexual revolution" and secular moral relativism? There is a difference between allowing people to be immoral and the outright celebration of "lifestyle choices" that many libertarians and liberals embrace. There is no dichotomy between libertarianism and social conservatism.
